JOB DESCRIPTION
FOR
Associate Pastor of Worship & Assimilation

     The Associate Pastor will give general direction and oversight to the overall ministry of worship and music of the church and coordinate the assimilation of God’s people into the life of the congregation. 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum education shall be an undergraduate degree in religious studies.  

QUALIFICATIONS
1.     Espouse an unquestioned and vital commitment to Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord.
2.    Be thoroughly evangelical in faith, doctrine and practice as understood by the North American Baptist Conference.
3.       Demonstrate effectiveness in personal witness and in the implementation of an effective music ministry and in support of creative worship experiences.
4.       Demonstrate effectiveness in church body assimilation.
5.       Have a personal character and lifestyle, family life, emotional and physical state of health that is acceptable in accordance with 1 Timothy 3.
6.       Possess strong motivational skills, a high level of organization, and an understanding of the diplomacy and flexibility when working in a church setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1.       Responsible to the Senior Pastor as part of the total staff team.
2.       Coordinate Worship activities.  These include:

·        Plan the order of service with the Senior Pastor each week and coordinate all aspects of the service (music, musicians, Audio visual, sound reinforcement, lighting, etc.).
·        Supervise all music ministries, and other program personnel such as sound and light personnel.
·        Direct the worship choir and all music related groups as needed.  Utilize and develop other music personnel to the best advantage of the church body.
·        Be responsible for music purchases, such as printed materials, equipment and instruments as directed by the Worship and Music Committee.
·        Oversee and work closely with the appropriate committee in the maintenance of all musical instruments and related equipment owned by the church.

3.       Coordinate Assimilation activities.  These include:

·        Help foster an attitude of acceptance and understanding regarding new people by the present membership and attendees of Salt Creek Baptist Church.
·        In conjunction with the Senior Pastor, facilitate the follow-up of visitors to the church.
·        Provide entry points for visitors and potential attendees to interact with the congregation.
·        Provide entry points of service, related to the newcomers’ level of spiritual commitment.
·        To oversee the cell ministry; that is, train leaders, keep leaders accountable, keep the goals of the cell group before the individual groups, etc.
·        In conjunction with the Senior Pastor and the Missions Committee, oversee and help define, plan, and implement outreach events.

4.       Attend staff and Board meetings as needed.
5.       Attend relevant seminars and conferences as time and resources allow.

COMPENSATION

The salary and other benefits will be commensurate with other members of the pastoral staff and will be within approved salary guidelines.  The Deacon Board will review the salary package each year.
