Dear Salt Creek Church Family,
I trust that you are all doing well and staying healthy. I have heard many stories from you all about the challenges and concerns you have during this unprecedent time. We are all finding that social distancing while essential is not easy by any means. My hope and prayer is that you will find new ways to experience God’s grace and mercy in the midst of these challenges. I want to share a little about what is happening with and through our church.
First of all, let me say what a joy it is to work with our staff. They are working tirelessly to find ways to connect and resource you. We are discovering new platforms and diving into unfamiliar technologies with the hope that you will be spiritually encouraged and feel more connected in this time. I hope that you parents have been able to take advantage of some of what Pastor Vince and Jenny Rowley have made available to you and your family. I also would like to remind you that there is much available on Right Now Media as far as Bible Studies and material for kids. If you have yet to access this resources please contact the church office and we will get you started.
Second, I would like to address our finances. Thanks to your support and generosity during the weeks and months leading up to this we are doing ok. The past two weeks though have seen a dramatic drop in giving. We understand some of you have been hit very hard and may not be able to give during this time. For those that can give you can do this in a couple of ways. You can mail checks to the church or go to www.saltcreekchurch.org/give to learn about our digital giving options.
Third, I want to talk about our online services. Let me first say we are working hard to resolve some of the audio issues in the past two weeks. Changes we made created a humming or buzzing but we hope it is now eliminated. We encourage you to join us either on Facebook or watch right on our website. You do not need a Facebook account to watch. Simply go to www.facebook.com/saltcreekchurch/live/ and you can watch at 10:50 this Sunday. This week is communion Sunday and we will celebrate and remember the Lord’s death and resurrection. Please use whatever you feel appropriate in your home for the bread and cup. Remember that these elements are symbolic, for Jesus is risen bodily and seated at the right hand of the Father (Colossians 3:1).
Lastly, I would like to tell you about some opportunities to serve during this time. We are asking for those who have time to volunteer and do not fall into the vulnerable categories for COVID-19 to consider helping with these programs:
1. School meal deliveries for Perrydale School families. We have a team of people delivering food to families in need with students at Perrydale. We could use 3-4 additional volunteers on this team.
2. We have been asked to serve as a donation site for Polk County to collected essential items such as food, hygiene, cleaning supplies etc. for those in need. We will need volunteers for 2-3 hours per day three times a week to staff our collection site at the church. You can sign up for one or more shifts depending on your availability.
3. Calling all Seamstresses – Trina Rose is leading an effort to make masks for essential workers in our area. We need additional help to make masks. If you are able to sew and have time on your hands please get in touch with Trina @ 503-983-5761
Thanks for considering how you can serve others during this time. If none of these work for you please take the time to make some phone calls just to check on those you know. We all need some connection during this time.
We look forward to worshiping with you again on Sunday and hope that your faith in Jesus is stronger than ever as we trust and wait on Him.
Grace & Peace,
