Deceit

This week's sermon, led by Pastor David, centered around handling deceit and betrayal in our lives. As part of our winter series "What to Do When Life Goes Off Script," we dove deep into why deceit hurts us so much. It's because we inherently crave justice, as we are made in the image of God, who is just. That's why betrayal from someone we trusted can cut so deep. Pastor David reminded us that everyone has the potential to deceive because all hearts are flawed, as stated in Jeremiah 17:9. We also discussed how our faith allows us to forgive those who wrong us because God forgave us first. It's about letting go of vengeance and trusting that God can handle justice better than we can. Forgiveness isn't about the offender's character but reveals our character as forgivers, reflecting God's love and mercy. And when life goes awry, trusting God helps us navigate through the pain, like the safety net below trapeze artists. The overarching message: Forgive as God forgives us, trust in Him, and let go of the need for revenge, knowing He is just and true.
