Dignity

This week's sermon, led by Pastor David, was about dignity in the face of life's unexpected challenges and the shame that often follows. Using Romans 5:8, Pastor David reminded us that God sees our pain and loves us deeply, despite our feelings of unworthiness or shame. He tackled the misconception that bad events happen as punishment for sin, emphasizing that God loves us no matter what and does not hold us accountable for others' sins. We were introduced to an "honor-shame" culture seen in the Bible, contrasting our "guilt culture" today. Pastor David explained how Jesus took our shame upon himself at the cross, providing us with honor through his resurrection. The core message is clear: Jesus replaces our shame with honor, reminding us that bad things aren't always a signal of our faults but rather an opportunity to see God's grace in action.
